![]() | Edward Winslow Old Norse DNA The Droitwich Winslow family falls under I-BY71464 genealogical research indicate Winslow lineage belongs to the I-M253 Y-DNA haplogroup, common to the Old Norse Northern and Northwestern Europe. Winslow family Ancestor (MDKPA) was from Sweden. It is quite possible the Y-DNA ancestor of the Winslow family may have been a Swede who settled in England during the Viking Period. Salt Production King Otto I in 956AD established Salt production on the island of Laeso saturated brine was raised manually from mine shafts about 15m deep the evaporated in pans over fires. The same principles used in the Salt production in Droitwich. Edward Winslow’s family were involved in the salt production trade and owned a salt pit. We have a Viking Reenactment Society which are coming to setup a camp with living history displays as the main attraction, story telling, roped off combat display and Salt making to link the Viking's with Droitwich and Salt production. Something special in the history of Droitwich. |
